Mrs. Mary B. Davisson and her husband John, one of the original settlers at the Camp Meeting Grounds, were from Trenton, New Jersey. Their first residence was the Trenton House at the corner of New York and Mt. Zion Way. They subsequently built the Centennial House, Green Leaf Cottage, and of course Davisson Villa.  The magnificent Queen Anne Victorian home was completed in June of 1888; just months after the death of John Davisson. Mrs. Mary. B. Davisson, became the dedicated and successful proprietor of Davisson Villa welcoming guests from New York, Philadelphia and other areas to enjoy wonderful summers in Ocean Grove. 

The new Davisson Villa on Mt. Carmel near the Tabernacle will be the most picturesque building in Ocean Grove when the Rainey’s, father and son, have exhausted all of their genius on Its unique exterior. It will be completed soon.
